Damage to your motorcycle after a crash or fall

Crashed, slid out or hit by someone? We inspect the damage, consult your insurer's assessor and work with you on the best repair.

Just had a fall or a collision? Here's what to do

  1. Safety first. Get yourself and others to safety. If anyone is injured, call 112. The bike comes later.
  2. Take photos. Of the scene, your bike from all sides, close-ups of the damage, your registration plate and any other vehicles. If you can, do this before anything is moved.
  3. Is another party involved? Fill in a claim form together (on paper or in your insurer's app) and note down names, registration numbers and witnesses.
  4. Report the damage to your insurer. Do it as soon as possible. Your insurer will tell you what your policy covers and whether an assessor will look at the damage.
  5. Message us. Send photos of the damage, with your make, model and year. We'll then help you work out the next step.

Not sure your bike is still safe? Then don't ride it. Check whether your policy includes help after an accident, such as transport of your bike.

How we help after a crash or fall

  • We inspect the damage ourselves: what's broken, what needs replacing and what can stay.
  • We consult the assessor. If your insurer wants the damage assessed, we arrange contact with the insurer's assessor. We show the assessor your bike and pass on which parts and hours are needed. The assessment itself is done by the assessor.
  • We talk you through the repair and the choices you have.
  • We repair your bike with original parts, or with used parts if we agree on that together. As soon as there is approval, we order the parts and get to work.
  • We also check what you can't see right away: handlebars, forks, wheels, brakes, controls, lights and leaks.

Damage through your insurance: first an inspection

If your bike comes to us as an insurance job, we first investigate whether it can be repaired, or whether it will be declared a total loss or an economic total loss. Alongside the insurer's assessor, we inspect the damage ourselves: what's broken, what needs replacing and what the repair will cost.

Inspection costs. If we repair your bike, there are no separate inspection costs: the inspection is part of the repair. If your bike is declared a total loss and we don't repair it, we charge for the hours we spent on the inspection. As an indication: usually about two hours of labour at €60 per hour. We agree this with you in advance, before we start: we don't take anything apart without your OK.

Sometimes your insurer or the other party pays these costs, depending on your policy and the situation. If no one covers them, they are at your own expense.

Is your bike at risk of being an economic total loss?

A bike is an economic total loss when, according to the insurer, the repair is too expensive compared with the value of the bike. If there is a risk of that, we check together with you and the insurer's damage assessor whether a repair with good used parts is possible. We work out which parts are the most expensive and whether they can be replaced with good used ones, so the repair amount stays below the economic total-loss threshold.

The assessor decides whether that is allowed. So we cannot guarantee that you keep your bike: the insurer may take over the wreck, and a bike that is a technical total loss cannot be repaired. But we actively look for a way to keep your bike.

If the frame is damaged or your bike gets a WOK registration (driving ban), it must first pass an RDW inspection after the repair before it may go back on the road.

Original parts, or used if you pay yourself

After damage we repair with original parts from the manufacturer, at list price. If you pay for the repair yourself, we can also look at good used (second-hand) parts, so the repair stays affordable. We discuss the options with you in advance.

What we replace and what we don't

We are a motorcycle workshop. We replace damaged parts such as brake and clutch levers, footrests, pedals, mirrors, indicators, fairing parts and other parts that are bent or broken. Then we check that everything works properly again.

We don't do paintwork or bodywork ourselves. That includes repairing paint, removing dents from the tank and straightening a frame. If that is needed, we tell you honestly in advance.

We only work on motorcycles, not on scooters or mopeds.

What does it cost?

Labour costs €60 per hour incl. VAT. We charge parts at list price; used parts by agreement. You get a quote in advance and we only do extra work after consulting you. You can read more about the inspection costs for a total loss above. If the repair goes through your insurance, your insurer decides what is covered. See also our prices.

Frequently asked questions about crash damage

Are you an assessor yourselves?

No. The damage is assessed by the assessor of your insurer or of the other party's insurer. We also inspect the damage ourselves, arrange contact with the assessor and pass on which parts and how many hours the repair takes.

What does the inspection cost if my bike is a total loss?

If we repair your bike, there are no separate inspection costs. If it is declared a total loss and we don't repair it, we charge for the hours we spent on the inspection, usually about two hours of labour at €60 per hour. We agree this with you in advance, before we start. Sometimes your insurer or the other party pays these costs, depending on your policy and the situation. If no one covers them, they are at your own expense.

Can my bike be saved if it is at risk of being an economic total loss?

Sometimes, yes. Together with you and the insurer's damage assessor, we check whether a repair with good used parts is possible, so the repair amount stays below the economic total-loss threshold. The assessor decides whether that is allowed; we cannot guarantee the outcome.

Can I choose where my bike is repaired?

That depends on your policy. Many motorcycle insurance policies let you choose, but check your policy conditions or ask your insurer.

Will the insurance pay for the repair?

That is decided by your insurer, or by the other party's insurer. It depends on your cover and on who was at fault. We can't promise that, but we make sure the assessor gets all the information about the damage and the repair.

Do you repair with original parts?

Yes, after damage we work with original parts from the manufacturer, at list price. If you pay for the repair yourself, we can also look at good used parts to keep the costs down.

Do you also do paintwork, or remove dents from the tank?

No. We don't do paintwork or bodywork ourselves. We replace damaged parts and make sure the mechanics of your bike are in order again. If paintwork or bodywork is needed, we tell you honestly in advance.

My bike still runs. Should I still have it checked?

That's a good idea. After a fall, the handlebars, forks, wheels or brakes can be affected without you noticing straight away. We check the most important points and tell you what we see.

How soon will my bike be ready?

That depends on the damage, the insurer's approval and the delivery time of the parts. As soon as there is approval, we order the parts and schedule the repair. Message us and we'll tell you what to expect.

Can I also bring a scooter or moped?

No, we only work on motorcycles.

Only need parts replaced after a minor drop? See also replacing damaged motorcycle parts.

We help riders from Waalwijk and the region, up to about 50 km from the workshop: from Sprang-Capelle, Kaatsheuvel and Drunen to Tilburg, 's-Hertogenbosch, Oosterhout and Breda.
